A few words about KAZ
I was born and raised in Japan and played soccer competitively throughout schools and university. My goal was to become a professional soccer player for long time.
I left my parents’ home at the age of 15 to play soccer for 3 years in a high school and moved to Tokyo for an university. During the university, I started thinking about my career, which led me to decide to go to England (actually to Brighton) for one year to learn English because I had ZERO English at that time. It was great experience and opened up my world way bigger! After completion of my university, I worked for a recruitment company for three years in Japan. In the meantime, I was trying to find what my passion was and what I really wanted to do for my career.
I made a big decision…
I met my wife in Japan, who is from Canada, and since she knew I played soccer competitively and I was interested in health, she introduced me the idea of physiotherapy professional. It was a lighting moment for me to know that there was a professional career that I could help other people’s health and functionality of the body. That moment, I decided to become a physiotherapist not in Japan, in a different country where I can learn advanced education for physiotherapy. So I decided to move to Canada!!!
After arrival in Vancouver, Canada, I tried to apply to the physiotherapy programs in Canada, but it was not as easy as I had thought….. I needed to complete many things in order to submit my applications to the programs. Therefore, I first took a personal trainer certification to get into the health & fitness field and I started working in a gym.
Throughout the time working as a personal trainer in the gym, I met many great people and worked with a variety of people who had different health conditions such as hypothyroidism, post-stroke, arthritis, scoliosis, and some running injuries. Since I was interested in physiotherapy, I enjoyed working with them and I visited their physiotherapists with them to see the assessments and treatments.
As I worked as a personal trainer, I had great experience with my clients and I was inspired by my clients.
For example, when I worked with a lady who was in her 50s with some health conditions and weight issues, she shared with me that she hadn’t done activities that she liked such as gardening and skiing with her family. I wanted to help her in a way that she would enjoy, so I first tried to create a fun training environment that she could enjoy. Somedays, our stepping training turned to a dance lesson in the gym and we used a balance ball, Bosu, and resistance bands many times for our training to make it interesting and fun. We also went for hiking in a local mountain. After working with her over one year, she told me that she would make a ski trip with her family and she would actually do it with them!!! This was an absolutely amazing moment for me and I was so happy that she was able to do what she liked to do.
This experience encouraged me to work more people who were struggling with their health conditions or pains.
Once I started…
Once I committed to help more people, I decided to build my fitness business specializing in helping people over 50 years old.
My goal is to provide as much value as possible by face-toface training, online training, and online course and contents in order to help my clients move better, feel better, and live better!!! I want people enjoy their lives as much as possible, and I strongly believe that health and fitness can improve anytime of our life, even 50, 60, or 80 years old. In fact, some of senior olympians started their sports in their 60s…..
Currently I also work in a care facility for people who have spinal bifida or cerebral palsy. I really enjoy working there and it gives me an opportunity to think myself what important to me in my life.
